When emotions start to build, pause and ground yourself.   Take a few slow, deep breaths. Count to ten if it helps. If possible, step away from the situation—go for a walk, sit outside, or retreat to a quiet space. Give yourself permission to be alone with your thoughts and let your mind settle. Put on music that soothes you and brings you back to a place of calm. You deserve that moment of peace.
