Gazebo Project

Ideas to creating an outdoor room in the backyard

Gazebo Project

A backyard in need of some shade for summer, so I decided on a DIY gazebo, but first I needed to extend the deck slightly, so I purchased two DIY modular deck kits and all I needed was an impact driver and some batten bolts.

Rough idea for layout

Given the module deck kit was slightly narrower than the existing deck I have added some pot plants and wooden storage boxes to fill in the gaps but will also serve as extra seating if required.

Taking the term 'DIY' very literally

Whilst the instructions recommended a friend to assist with install, with no one available and keen to get my project going, I improvised the best I could.  Mindset on project exact instructions, unstoppable. Well almost a couple of frames tumbles I eventually had frame standing upright enough to put it together.

The deck was reasonably easy to put together given I have no tradie experience, I placed concrete pavers for it to sit on and some deck leveling feet, then with the help of supervisor Coco, we’ve got the base completed. Next is trying to colour match the stains of the decks.

DIY Gazebo

The start of the DIY gazebo frame has been again reasonably simple to install, next is the tricky part when you doing it on your own.

Well I did it and very proud I am, the roof was a little tricky to start with, a few more finishing touches to go, but its getting there.

I have also included my Hanging Candle Mobile to my Gazebo adding some greenery and tranquility at night watching the candles flickering.
